in   the   Faith

Secure everyone in "Weekly Attendance" for it is more than going to church one day per week.

Secure everyone in "Prayer" for it is an appointment, and interview with Almighty God.

Secure everyone in "Encouragement".  It is the right word or action making a world of difference in people's lives.

Secure everyone in "Fellowship".  It is the priority in our lives with both Jesus and others on a daily basis

Secure everyone in "Christian Service".  It is the hands and feet of Jesus to a lost world.

Securing the Believer in Their Faith!

Picture
Secure everyone in "Weekly Attendance"  Attendance is seen in mid-week bible studies and fellowship gatherings.  It is important for our worship of God and taught His Word for our spiritual growth. With our technology today, attendance to one another is so easy.  Texting, emailing, calling, emojis, and now even video chat allows us to attend to one another so much easier than even five years ago.  Attendance, is not enough to just attend, we should be involved in some type of ministry, using our gifts to build up the body of Christ. Attendance can and does help secure the truths that Jesus taught, that were reiterated by the apostles through their teaching.
Watch: Why It Is Important!  List and discuss the ways the video states why church attendance is important.

Secure everyone in "Prayer"  Prayer is an appointment, and interview with almighty God (Billy Graham,1957).  Prayer is a “solemn address to the Supreme Being, consisting of adoration, of the expression of our sense of God’s glorious perfections, confession of our sins, intercession, thanksgiving, gratitude, and yet consist of a single petition whether verbal, written, of printed.  Prayer is an essential building block in the new believer, the developing disciple, and the disciple-maker.

Watch: Billy Graham gives some necessary items for believers at any stage regarding  the importance of prayer.  Write out each items and discuss how to implement it into your life.

Secure everyone in "Encouragement".  Encouragement makes our day!  The right word or action can make the world of difference whether you day is going good or bad.  People walk around everyday looking for affirmation and encouragement.   Encouragement is a form of love and in the article “Why is Encouragement So Important . . . .” the author states over 20 different references showing the importance of encouragement (https://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-encouragement.html).  Encouragement that is not just a cliché phrase in a uncaring way, it is asking someone “How are you really doing?”  And it is not just searching for the quick answer, it is striving to improve the relationship.

Challenge: Consider and write down ways Christians are too tolerant, too nice; too anxious, and too quick to make excuses about sin.  How should the 21st Century Christian “stand for God”?

Secure everyone in "Fellowship".   Fellowship is both coming face-to-face with Jesus and making the face-to-face with others a priority.  Fellowship in the body of Christ shows a diversity of talents, skills, effort, and unity through the Spirit.  Fellowship calls for this diversity to have no division, to have concern for one another, when one suffers all suffer, and when one is honored then all rejoice with the one who had received honor (1 Corinthians 12: 12-26).  When fellowship is broken “we have to choose to either isolate ourselves, or restore the relationship with both Jesus, and the brother/sister in Christ that needs restoration.  Fellowship is an absolute must for relationship with Jesus and the body of Christ.

How does Francis Chan define what a "gathering" is to be?

Secure everyone in Christian Service.  Weekly Attendance and Fellowship open doors for people to serve one anther as good stewards of God's grace (1 Peter 4:10).  Service is freedom and opportunity to serve one another (Galatians 5:13).  Service is encouraging and building one another up, and choosing to "excel still more" even when we believe we have done our best (1 Thessalonians 4: 9 - 10; 5: 13)  Service is bearing one another's burdens even when our pack feels like is has too many rocks in it already (Galatians 6: 2).  Our Service for Jesus really shines when we have opportunities to "do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10).  Service can be tough when scripture ask us to "be subject to the elders, and clothe ourselves in humility (1 Peter 5: 5).  In the 21st Century, Service can be tough when we are to live in harmony with one another, don't be haughty, associate with the lowly, and remove pride from your lifestyle (Romans 12:16).  Service really hits to the core of your life and lifestyle when we are asked to "think on these things" a) stuff that is honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, and stuff'n that is worthy of praise.  Service is a lifestyle that reflects the teachings of Jesus 24/7.  Service doesn't take time off from being a Christian 24/7.
After watching the video "The Jesus Memo" what is the contrast between the "world is" and what "The Jesus Memo" is communicating?  When should this change happen?
