“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1).  Bold statement for anyone to make, seeing as Jesus is the perfect man, and Savior of the world.  How could anyone be good enough in their life to say to others “Imitate me”?  Especially, imitate me because I am a good example of how Jesus lived. This may seem a very arrogant stance to talk is sharing Jesus with the world around us.  It is not if we maintain that the focus in on knowing Jesus, is Him glorified.

The essence of Walk-n-Talk with Jesus is developing a relationship with people around me so that Jesus is visible 24/7.  We who believe and follow Jesus are the example to the world around us.  Jesus lived on this earth over two thousand years ago, and what we know of Him and His life is through Holy Writ.  Walk-n-Talk is a lifestyle that opens up my daily walk as I live out my faith.  This is Jesus visibility in my life 24/7, every minute, every word, and every action.  This is placing how I live my daily life under the microscope of societal observation.  Opening the doors of the recesses of my life to be examined in light of how I am doing with God’s Word.  In order to see Jesus in the 21st Century you have to look at my life, for I am the representation of Him here on earth.

The Lifestyle every disciple of Jesus should manifest in their daily walk with the people they encounter each day.  This Lifestyle is more than just words or definitions.  It is more than scripture memorization, attending church, or helping your neighbor.  This is a 24/7 lifestyle that portrays Jesus through every aspect of your life, every minute, and in every relationship you encounter.

To Walk-n-Talk is to develop a regular relationship with any friend, neighbor, acquaintance and just be yourself.  Walk-n-Talk is spending time getting to know that individual and their likes and dislikes.  Learn what they do for hobbies, free time, and even favorite foods.  In the process of discovery find out their beliefs, views, and interests.  This discovery is a mutual effort as we start sharing our beliefs, world views, like and dislikes, and hobbies.  Walk-n-Talk is like any normal relationship, you are working at being friends.  In  the process of the friendship you strike up conversations about Jesus, and what he taught on various subject.

Over the years many people have drawn strength from the poem “Footprints in the Sand”.  Many Christians used this poem as strength booster whenever they feel as if they are walking the hard road of life alone.  In the poem the spokesperson is enamored with the fact that during the hard times of life there always was a single set of footprints. The individual becomes angry at God for having left him alone to walk in the rocky places.  “He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest time and saddest time in his life”.  When the individual, in fact any of us who have felt we were in the same positions as the spokesperson, becomes happy to learn that Jesus carried them during the hard times.

There needs to be a perspective switch happen here in the story.  Instead of focusing on the hard times, and whether or not the writer realizes that Jesus carried them through the hard times.  The perspective should be on the multitude of miles of sandy beach that he walked side by side with Jesus.  The viewpoint should be on fellowship with Jesus as we Walked-n-Talked with the creator.  The point of view should be the myriad of conversations that took place as we discussed Holy Writ.  The one who inspired men to write down all Scripture so that the man of God my be adequate, equipped for every good work. As we walk on the beach, we watch the tides come in and out.  This is representative of the years we spend knowing Jesus and learning from Him.  There are moments in the ebb and flow of life where we stop and let the surf drag across our feet.  The feel of sand being removed from under our feet reminds us of the shifting of life events.  We know Jesus is there even during the shifting, however our foundation is built on the Rock of Ages.  We can express to those around us the security we know in Him.  We can express to them how in the face of change we know He is secure.  The standpoint sponsored here is to focus on what transpires during the majority of life.
